Botanical Source & Cultivation
Ascophyllum Nodosum. Commonly referred to as "seaweed" this rootless aquatic plant is not from the common "seaweed" but rather a different classification of plant entirely. The plant washes up on shore and is dried by sun before being ground to a fine powder.
Appearance, Aroma & Flavour
Light green powder with a fine consistency that emits a strong, seaweed aroma. The salty taste of kelp can be described as umami, which means a “pleasant savory taste” in Japanese.
Common Uses
Kelp powder can add a powerful nutrient boost to smoothies, and it also goes well mixed in salad dressings or sprinkled on top of vegetables. Add the powder in soups, stews, or savory side dishes. Mix it with other seasonings and incorporate it with your favorite recipes.
Storage & Shelf Life
Store in a cool, dark pantry and kelp powder should stay good for up to 2 years.
Origin: Atlantic Canada
